San Diego, CA – Police are in an ongoing standoff with an armed man who opened fired from his home in Hillcrest on Thursday.

The incident began at about 9:30 a.m. after San Diego police officers responded to a home on 4th Avenue near Pennsylvania Avenue for a call about a man who wanted to harm himself, KSWB reported.

Officers took cover behind their vehicles and called for backup and SWAT to respond to the scene, KSWB reported.
