Chandler, AZ – Police are searching for a man who dragged an officer with his vehicle and fled the scene of a traffic stop on Monday afternoon, KSAZ reported.
The scene is still active and the roadway has been shut down, police said.
Chandler police officials said that an officer affected a traffic stop in the area of Arizona Avenue and Riggs Road at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Several minutes later, the officer issued a distress call over his radio.
One officer was dragged by the suspect vehicle, and sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries.
Police said that a second officer fired at the suspect, identified at 27-year-old Allen Pedro, and Pedro’s vehicle.
It is unknown if Pedro was injured, or if he fired at officers.
The suspect fled to the Gila River Indian Reservation, where he was last known to reside.
Officers from the Gila River Police Department were able to stop Pedro’s vehicle, but he then abandoned his car and was last seen walking through the desert.
Investigators then searched a residence where Pedro was last known to have resided. Seven people were located inside, but no other information was provided.
