Houston, TX – A law enforcement officer was shot in a Houston shopping mall Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. at the PlazAmericas Mall, formerly known as the Sharpstown Mall, in the 7500 block of Bellaire Boulevard, according to KRIV.
A law enforcement officer was attacked outside of a clothing store in the mall, and the suspect took the officer’s gun, according to KHOU. The officer’s agency has not been released at this time.
Houston Police Department (HPD) confirmed that their officers were not shot.
KHOU reports that the Houston Police Officers Union identified the wounded officer as being a Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Deputy, but that has not yet been confirmed by HCSO.

The unidentified wounded suspect and wounded officer were both transported to the hospital and their conditions have not been released.
There is believed to be a possible second suspect in the mall, and the situation is in progress at the time of publication.
