BREAKING: Ozark Police Officer Shot In Head

An Ozark police officer was shot in the line of duty late Thursday night.

Ozark, AL – An on-duty Ozark police officer was shot multiple times on Thursday night, to include a gunshot wound to the head.

The incident occurred on Briarhill Court at approximately 10 p.m., WDHN reported.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office said that the officer was responding to a call when the shooting occurred, according to WSFA.

The shooter was killed during the altercation.

The wounded officer was rushed to Southeast Health for treatment, and their condition is unknown.

Sources described the officer’s condition as “touch and go,” according to WDHN.

The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case, WFSA reported.
