Phoenix, AZ – A Phoenix police officer was shot in the line of duty in south Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon.
Phoenix police said the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on June 14 near the intersection of 39th Avenue and Baseline Road, KTAR reported.
The wounded officer was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials have not released any information about his medical condition, KTAR reported.
Police have asked the public to avoid the area around the shooting scene.

Officials have not yet identified the gunman and have not announced that any suspects are in custody.
