Benton, KY – A law enforcement officer and a suspect were shot at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon.
First responders from multiple agencies responded to the sheriff’s department and the Marshall County Detention Center located in the 100-block of West Fifth Street in Benton on May 16, WSIL reported.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Detective Matt Hillbrecht confirmed that one law enforcement officer and a civilian suspect were shot, WPSD reported.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the wounded hero, WSIL reported.
The sheriff’s department also has not released any information the officer’s condition.
The wounded suspect also has not been identified.
Roads have been blocked off for several blocks around the scene and traffic has been redirected, WSIL reported.
The Marshall County Medical Response team, Murray-Calloway County Medical Services, Kentucky State Police, and McCracken County sheriff’s deputies remained on the scene.
