BREAKING: North Carolina Officer Shot

A Henderson police officer has been shot in North Carolina.

Henderson, NC – A Henderson police officer was shot Thursday night on Skenes Avenue in Vance County, according to WRAL.

The shot officer was serving a narcotics search warrant just after 9 p.m. when a suspect from within the home opened fire, according to ABC11.

The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect.

No details have been released about the identities or conditions of the officer or shooter.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol and the State Bureau of Investigations are working on the investigation.

UPDATE: The suspect died. The officer has been treated and released.
