North Haven, CT – There are “multiple officers down” at an explosion in North Haven Wednesday night, according to FOX61.
Correction: This was initially reported in New Haven. New Haven PD is on scene assisting, but the incident is in North Haven.
North Haven Police Department initially said that they were responding to a barricaded subject in the 300 block of Quinnipiac Avenue.
FOX61 reports that the suspect had been holding his wife hostage for four days.
Some time while officers were on scene, a massive explosion erupted, injuring numerous officers.
Neighbors told FOX61 reporter Carmen Chau that they heard SWAT breaking the door and they believe that the suspect had rigged his house to explode.
UPDATE: Multiple buildings are reported to be on fire. Officers appear to be trying to talk to a suspect through a loud speaker.
