Ochlocknee, GA – Authorities are searching for a suspect who shot two Thomas County sheriff’s deputies early on Tuesday morning when the law enforcement officers tried to serve a warrant on him.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Jan. 11 when deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on 25-year-old Tyler Keith Henderson, WCTV reported.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said deputies got into an altercation with Henderson and the suspect somehow got ahold of one of the deputy’s guns and tried to shoot three deputies.
TCSO Captain Steve Jones told reporters that one deputy was shot under their bulletproof vest, WCTV reported.
Capt. Jones said a second deputy took a round in his ballistic vest.
Henderson shot at a third deputy but missed.
The wounded officers were transported to a nearby emergency room for treatment, WCTV reported.
The sheriff’s department said in a post to its official Facebook page that both deputies were in stable condition and expected to survive.
Henderson was on probation for robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary charges when he shot the deputies, WCTV reported.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies were searching for Henderson on Tuesday morning and a BLUE ALERT was issued.

Law enforcement sources said that the warrant the deputies were serving on Henderson when he shot them was prompted by a December of 2021 arrest in Decatur County.
“The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Tyler Henderson. Henderson is wanted for attempting to murder 3 of your Deputies,” the sheriff’s department wrote on its Facebook page.
“Two of our Deputies were shot, both are stable and are going to be okay,” the post continued. “Henderson is a convicted felon and is no stranger to the law. His current Facebook shows a previous wanted poster.”
Henderson has been described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 212 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair, WCTV reported.
Deputies said he had a close-cut haircut and some facial hair and was wearing dark-colored jogging pants and light-colored tennis shoes when he fled.
“We will find Henderson and bring him to justice. We are asking for your assistance in this matter. If you know the whereabouts of Henderson, please contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation tip line at 1-800-597-8477,” TCSO wrote on its Facebook page.
A $5,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to Henderson’s arrest, WCTV reported.
