BREAKING: Illinois Deputy Shot By Gunman; Shooter On The Run

Rockford, IL – A gunman armed with a rifle shot a deputy on a fugitive task force as the deputy was working to take him into custody.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Extended Stay America at 747 North Bell School Road, according to ABC News.

A U.S. Marshals fugitive task force attempted to take 43-year-old Floyd Brown into custody for armed robbery. When the officers arrived, Brown shot a deputy with a rifle.

The suspect was able to flee the area in a light blue or silver vehicle with a possible license plate of BF13112.

Brown should be considered armed and dangerous and he remains at large. Anybody who sees him is asked to call 911.

The identity and condition of the wounded deputy have not been released at this time.
