Acworth, GA – A Cobb County police officer was shot in Acworth on Sunday afternoon.
Police have not released any information about what led up to the shooting but confirmed that an officer had been transported to the hospital, WSB reported.
Witnesses reported heavy police activity with dozens of officers on Cobb Parkway at Dallas Acworth highway near North Shores Road.
Police from multiple jurisdictions responded to the scene to assist, including the Acworth police, Cobb County police, Marietta police, and Kennesaw police departments, WSB reported.
No information about the identity of the wounded hero has been released.
Police have also not released a suspect description, nor said whether the suspect was in custody, WSB reported.
Witnesses reported seeing officers with long guns in the area.
Police sources said that the officer had sustained non-life-threatening injuries, WSB reported.
