BREAKING: Georgia Officer Stabbed, Suspect Shot

Sandy Springs, GA – A Sandy Springs police officer was stabbed on Friday morning and a suspect was shot when officers responded to call about an unknown person inside a home.

The Sandy Springs Police Department’s public information officer said the incident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 19 when officers responded to a 911 call from a residence on Cameron Glen Drive NW near Heards Ferry Road NW and Heards Forest Drive, WGCL reported.

Police said multiple officers responded to the scene after a report of an unknown person who had gained entry to the home and there was an altercation with the intruder.

A Sandy Springs police officer was stabbed during the confrontation, WGCL reported.

The suspect was shot.

The officer and the suspect were both transported to area hospitals, WGCL reported.

No information has been released on the medical conditions of the officer or the suspect.

“@SandySprings_PD has an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) w/ one officer transported to the hospital. This is a developing incident. PIO will have media staging info soon. Suspect was also taken to the hospital,” the police department tweeted.

Sandy Springs police have not released the name of the officer who was stabbed.
