BREAKING: Georgia Officer Hit By Shooter, Manhunt Underway For Gunman

Henry County, GA – A manhunt is underway for the gunman who shot a Henry County police officer during a domestic violence call on Thursday night.

The incident occurred on Keys Ferry Road near Floresta Drive at approximately 6 p.m. on Nov. 4, WAGA reported.

Henry County police officers responded to the area to investigate a report of a domestic dispute when they came under fire, according to police.

One officer was hit during the attack.

“All of us all a sudden heard two gunshots,” a witness told WAGA. “I looked straight-forward and that’s when I saw the officer’s hand go over his chest. He fell straight back on the driveway, I turned around, told my son to run. We all three ran. Hid in a neighbor’s garage.”

The officer was rushed to Piedmont Henry Hospital, but the severity of his wounds required him to be diverted to the Grady Memorial Hospital trauma center, WAGA reported.

Sources said the officer remains in critical condition in the ICU, but that he is stable, according to WSB.

Police have identified the suspected gunman as 22-year-old Jordan Jackson.

Jackson fled the scene in a white 2016 Honda Civic with Georgia plate RXF0384 after the shooting, WSB reported.

Investigators later said he was possibly traveling in a white 2021 Dodge Ram, but that vehicle has since been recovered.

He is described as a black male who stands five feet, eight inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds, WAGA reported.

Jackson should be considered “armed and dangerous,” Henry County Police Chief Mark Amerman told WSB.

Police shut down multiple major roadways in the area on Thursday night in an effort to locate the gunman, WAGA reported.
