Miami Gardens, FL – A Miami-Dade police officer was shot in the face on Monday afternoon in Miami Gardens.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said the incident occurred on Dec. 5 in the area of Northwest 186th Street and 67th Avenue, WPLG reported.
Police officials said that a Miami-Dade Police Department officer was shot in the line of duty by a suspect while he was inside a white vehicle.
No details about the incident have been released.
The wounded hero was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, WPLG reported.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools announced that nearby American Senior High School, located in the 18,300 block of NW 67th Avenue, had been placed into lockdown while police investigated the officer-involved shooting, WSVN reported.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the wounded hero, nor have they released any details of his medical condition.
Police also have not yet released any details about what led up to the shooting of the Miami-Dade police officer.
