Cordes Lakes, AZ – A Yavapai County sheriff’s deputy was shot on Tuesday afternoon by a suspect who has barricaded himself and is engaged in a standoff with law enforcement.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred on June 28 near Stagecoach Trail and Redrock Road in the Cordes Lakes area, KPNX reported.
Authorities have not released any details about what led up to the shooting.
Sources said that suspect had barricaded himself into some sort of structure and then the SWAT team was called to the scene, according to KSAZ.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the sheriff’s deputy who was shot.
They also have not released any details about the hero’s medical condition, KSAZ reported.
Authorities have asked residents to avoid the area while the standoff with the suspect was ongoing.
