The incident began at about 2 p.m. on March 22 when police received a call about an active shooter at the King Soopers on Table Mesa Drive near South Broadway, KCNC reported.

The 911 caller reported someone shot inside their vehicle in the parking lot of the grocery store, KDVR reported.

But when police arrived on the scene, the gunman opened fire on them.

The audio from police radio channels indicated that seven people had been shot, including a police officer.

UPDATE: Authorities have confirmed that one officer was killed in the attack.

A witness told KDVR a man was wearing tactical gear carrying an “AR-15 style weapon.”

Boulder police appeared to have one suspect in custody who was led out wearing only his underwear.

Aerial footage showed multiple medevac helicopters landing at a nearby school.

The Boulder Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams were both dispatched to the scene, KDVR reported.
