Frederick, MD – Multiple people, including at least one law enforcement officer, were shot in the city of Frederick on Friday afternoon.
The shootings occurred near Waverly Drive and Key Parkway near several different apartment complexes and businesses, WJLA reported.
A police spokesman confirmed that multiple people were shot but would not say exactly how many were wounded, the Frederick Post reported.
Authorities have also not confirmed whether the officer who was wounded was a member of the Frederick Police Department or the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the Frederick Post reported.
Officials have not said how many of the victims were civilians and how many were members of law enforcement, but unconfirmed social media reports indicated that more than one officer was down.
Frederick High School, West Frederick Middle School, Waverley Elementary School, Butterfly Ridge Elementary School, Hillcrest Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Parkway Elementary School, and the SUCCESS Program were put into lockdown because of their proximity to the incident, WJLA reported.
UPDATE: WBFF has reported that two law enforcement officers were shot, but there was still no confirmation on which agency they belong to.
The wounded heroes were airlifted to University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma.
The suspect was also shot and airlifted to the hospital, according to WBFF.
