Yountville, CA – Police are on scene of an “active shooter” at the Yountville Veterans Home.
The Associated Press is reporting that the gunman has taken three hostages after opening fire.
KPIX is reporting that the man came in at around 10:20 a.m. wearing body armor and carrying an “automatic weapon.”
It’s unclear at this time how many people may have been hit by the gunfire. At least one shot was reported after officers arrived on scene.
The Yountville Veterans Home is the largest veterans home in the country with over 1,000 residents.
UPDATE: The suspect exchanged gunfire with a deputy and nobody was hit. The standoff is ongoing with confirmed hostages.
UPDATE: There has been no communication with shooter or hostages. Unknown if they are alive.
UPDATE: The three female hostages are dead.
