Update: WVLT reported that Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office said that no gunman was found on the school campus and that the two people transported from Volunteer High School by ambulance were not related to the suspected “active shooter” incident.
Church Hill, TN – The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were on the scene of an “active shooter” on Tuesday morning at Volunteer High School in Church Hill.
A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s department said deputies responded to the scene at about 8:26 a.m. on Aug. 10, The Times News reported.
Students were being evacuated from Volunteer High School and sent to the National Guard Armory to be reunited with their families.
There was no information about whether anyone had been shot or who the gunman was shooting at.
However, Hawkins County EMS confirmed that several patients had been transported from Volunteer High School to a local hospital, WVLT reported.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies have responded to Volunteer High School to assist sheriff’s deputies, The Times News reported.
Media on the scene reported that ambulances had been staged a safe distance back from the high school.
The Hawkins County School District has locked down all schools from Surgoinsville to East Hawkins County, The Times News reported.
Volunteer High students are being evacuated to the National Guard Armory. If you have a child at the school do not come to to school to get them, go to the armory per law enforcement on scene.

The incident was ongoing and the sheriff’s department spokeswoman said Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson would release more information when it became available.
