Jersey City, NJ – There is at least one active shooter firing at police officers and civilians in Jersey City and the latest reports said that two police officers have been shot.
The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Dec. 10 at MLK Drive and Bayview Avenues, the New York Daily News reported.
Hudson County law enforcement sources told WNBC that a suspect with a long gun was firing at police from a corner store.
The sources said that two officers were shot in what they described as an “ambush style” attack, but officials haven’t confirmed any details yet as they incident is ongoing.
Schools in the Greenville area have been locked down and the SWAT team is responding to the scene, WNBC reported.
Superintendent of Jersey City Schools Frank Walker told WNBC that gunfire could be heard on the streets and all of the nearby schools immediately took precautions.
The North Jersey Dispatch also reported that there may be two gunmen firing at police, and numerous other media reports echoed that assertion.
