BREAKING: 5 Shot, 1 Dead In Atlanta Medical Building, Gunman On The Loose

Atlanta, GA – Atlanta police are actively searching for a gunman who opened fire in an Atlanta medical building and fatally shot one person and wounded at least four others on Wednesday afternoon.

The Atlanta Police Department said the incident began at about 12:30 p.m. on May 3 at the Northside Hospital Midtown medical office located in the 1100-block of West Peachtree Street NW in midtown Atlanta, The Washington Post reported.

Authorities told reporters that at least five people were shot.

The gunman fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Police said one of the victims had been pronounced dead at the scene, The Washington Post reported.

The other four victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Police have not yet identified any of the victims, nor have they released any information on their medical conditions, The Washington Post reported.

Authorities have released pictures and video of the suspect in the shooting and are asking the public for help in finding him.

He has been identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson.

They also warned that the suspect was “armed and dangerous and should not be approached,” The Washington Post reported.

“Anyone in the area is asked to secure their building and shelter in place,” Atlanta police said. “Anyone not in the area is asked to stay away.”

The medical center’s security video showed the armed man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask, with a bag strapped onto him, The Washington Post reported.

A search for the gunman is underway, according to Atlanta police.

Multiple law enforcement agencies were assisting.
