BREAKING: 3 Shot At Tennessee Warehouse

Antioch, TN – Three people were shot by a gunman at the SmileDirectClub warehouse in Antioch early on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. on Aug. 3 at the warehouse in the 1500-block of Antioch Pike, WZTV reported.

Police said a dayshift employee walked into the facility and opened fire on co-workers, WSMV reported.

At least three employees were shot.

One was shot in the chest, another was shot in the abdomen, and the third victim was shot in the leg, WSMV reported.

Officials said one person was in critical condition, according to WZTV.

Multiple employees were transported from the warehouse to hospitals.

Police immediately responded to 911 calls about shots fired and encountered the suspected shooter at the intersection of Antioch Pike and Franklin Limestone Road, WZTV reported.

Officers said the gunman pointed a semiautomatic pistol with an extended magazine at police, WSMV reported.

Police ordered the suspect to drop the gun and when he didn’t, he was fatally shot by officers.

The gunman’s motive remains unknown at this time, WSMV reported.

Police have not yet released the identity of the gunman, WZTV reported.

Authorities also have not yet identified any of the employees who were wounded in the workplace attack.

“Although SmileDirectClub is saddened at the shooting that took place at its manufacturing facilities this morning, the incident was contained quickly by security personnel on site,” the company said in a statement sent to WZTV. “The safety of our team members is a top priority for our Company and we maintain strict security protocols and a no weapons policy at all of our facilities. We are working with the local police as they investigate this matter.”

Police said the gunman had only worked at the warehouse for a short period of time, WSMV reported.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) will be heading up the investigation into the shootings.
