Bay St. Louis, MS – Two Bay St. Louis police officers were murdered in the line of duty while responding to a call on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at a Motel 6 on Highway 90 at about 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 14, WLOX reported.
Investigators said the two officers were responding to a call when they encountered a woman outside the motel.
The woman allegedly shot both Bay St. Louis police officers, then fatally shot herself, WLOX reported.
One of the officers succumbed to their wounds at the scene.
The second wounded hero was rushed to a local hospital, where that officer was also pronounced dead, WLOX reported.
The officers’ identities were not immediately released, nor was the identity of the deceased armed suspect.
Investigators have not provided details regarding what led up to the shooting.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is handling the ongoing investigation, WLOX reported.
Their findings will be forwarded to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office for review, according to WJTV.
