BREAKING: 2 Maryland Deputies Shot Serving Warrant, Standoff Ongoing

Waldorf, MD – Two Charles County sheriff’s deputies were shot while serving a warrant late on Monday afternoon and now the active shooter is engaged in a standoff with police.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office public information officer said two deputies were seriously wounded on May 17 after they went to serve a warrant 6300-block of Josephine Road in Waldorf, WUSA reported.

Both deputies were airlifted to University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma for treatment.

Officials have not released any information on the condition of the deputies, The Washington Post reported.

Authorities have not said why the deputies were serving the warrant, what the warrant was for, or any details about what preceded the shooting.

Law enforcement officers have shut down the area and set up a perimeter around the scene that WUSA reported involved a barricaded gunman.

Authorities have not released the names of the wounded heroes, nor that of the gunman.
