Biden Mocks Gun Owners, Says They Don’t Have F-15s Or Nukes

Washington, DC – President Joe Biden blamed gun violence for the “staggering” surge of crime across the United States on Wednesday and took aim at Second Amendment advocates, saying Americans would need nuclear weapons and jets to take on the government.

President Biden made the speech on June 23 to introduce his administration’s crime prevention strategy, which had been released hours earlier in a fact sheet form.

The White House’s plan called for a crackdown on gun dealers and removing liability protections for firearms manufacturers, among other things.

Both President Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland, who spoke before the President, blamed skyrocketing crime across the nation on the pandemic and said rising crime “may be more pronounced” this summer as the nation recovers, FOX News reported.

The President said that his crime prevention strategy would include working to strengthen background checks, ban “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines, and improve community policing.

“Talk to most responsible gun owners they’ll tell you there’s no possible justification for having 100 rounds in a magazine,” President Biden said.

Then he attempted to mock Second Amendment advocates who believe the Constitution gives them the right to bear arms so they can protect and defend themselves from an out-of-control government, FOX News reported.

“The Second Amendment from the day it was passed limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own,” the President said. “You couldn’t buy a cannon.”

Historians have been unable to find any evidence that individuals couldn’t buy cannons in the 1700s, according to Austin American-Statesman.

Then he bumbled whatever he was trying to say and started mocking a quote from Thomas Jefferson.

“Those who say the blood of patriots, you know, and all the stuff about how we’re gonna have to move against the government,” President Biden continued. “Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots.”

The president was referencing Thomas Jefferson’s quote which said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

“What happens is, that there never been – if you wanted to think you need to have weapons to take on the government – you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons,” he said. “My point is there’s always been the ability to limit, rationally limit, the type of weapon that can be owned and who can own it.”

The President insisted his strategies were in line with the Second Amendment as it exists.

“We’re not changing the Constitution. We’re enforcing it,” President Biden said.

He lauded his crime strategy’s “zero tolerance” policy for gun dealers and claimed that 90 percent of illegal weapons recovered by police at crime scenes could be tracked back to just five percent of the nation’s gun dealers, FOX News reported.

The fact sheet released earlier in the day said that gun dealers would lose their licenses after the first violation of federal gun laws.

“If you willfully sell a gun to someone who’s prohibited from possessing it, if you willfully fail to run a background check, if you willfully falsify a record… my message to you is this: We’ll find you and we will seek your license to sell guns,” President Biden warned.

But the President, in his speech and on his fact sheet, completely ignored the fact that the spike in crime across the country coincided with the defunding of police departments, FOX News reported.

“This is a political red herring aimed at hiding the real and abysmal failures of the Biden administration,” National Rifle Association (NRA) spokeswoman Amy Hunter said. “Crime rates are high because of the efforts to defund the police and a failure to prosecute career criminals. The simple fact is strict enforcement of existing laws – including gun laws – coupled with support of law enforcement and prosecutors to do their jobs would result in a dramatic decrease in crime. But, the President would rather play politics than make Americans safer.”
