Authorities Searching For California Family With Baby Who Were Kidnapped At Gunpoint

Merced, CA – Authorities in California are looking for a family of four – including a baby – who were kidnapped from a business in Merced at gunpoint on Monday.

Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said four family members were taken from the business at gunpoint for unknown reasons on Oct. 3, but portions of the kidnapping were caught on video, the Associated Press reported.

Authorities are searching for eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri; her mother, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur; her father, 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh; and her uncle, 39-year-old Amandeep Singh, The Washington Post reported.

All four are believed to have been taken against their will, according to the sheriff’s department.

“We have a lowlife out there that kidnapped an eight-month-old baby,” Sheriff Warnke said in a video briefing about the kidnapping. “Her mom, her dad, and her uncle.”

“So far, we have no idea why the kidnapping – we have no motivation behind it,” the sheriff continued. “We just know that they are gone.”

Authorities released pictures of suspects captured on video during the incident.

There is no doubt that foul play was involved in the family’s disappearance, according to the Associated Press.

“We’ve got evidence to indicate that the individuals involved in this destroyed evidence in an attempt to cover their tracks,” Sheriff Warnke told reporters.

“We consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous,” the sheriff warned.

He said that anyone who encountered the suspects, or the missing family, should immediately call 911 and not attempt to approach them, the Associated Press reported.

“We need your help. We gotta bring this family home safely,” Sheriff Warnke said.
