Lincolnton, NC – A North Carolina homeowner captured a home invader in his daughter’s bedroom and held him at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived.
The incident occurred on the morning of Feb. 6, shortly after the homeowner’s wife and daughter returned home from a dentist appointment, WFLD reported.
The man told police that he was lying in bed when he heard his daughter scream.
He told police he jumped up and rushed into his daughter’s bedroom, where he found an intruder, according to WFLD.
The father told police that he tackled the suspect to the ground.
Police officials said that man held the home invader at gunpoint while he called 911 for help, WFLD reported.
Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies in the Baker District were patrolling nearby in response to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area and break-ins of outbuilding located on Magnolia Grove Road.
They responded quickly to the home and took the suspect into custody, WFLD reported.
Deputies arrested 42-year-old Jason Tillman at the scene.
He was charged with four counts of felony breaking and entering, one count of attempted breaking and entering to a building, one count of larceny from a building, and one count of possession of stolen property, according to WFLD.
Tillman was held in the Lincoln County Detention Center on a $51,000 bond, according to Fox News.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said investigators thought the home invader had gained entrance to the home through a basement window, WFLD reported.
