Armed Citizen Threw Wallet On Floor During Armed Robbery, ‘That’s When I Lit Him Up’

‘Dennis’ Saves Himself And Girlfriend With Quick Thinking And Concealed Carry

BY COWGIRL

Detroit, MI –  An armed citizen, Dennis, was inside a business when a robbery began, and took the first opportunity to shoot the suspect.

According to Breitbart, on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at around 5:45 PM a man only going by “Dennis,” to protect his identity, and his girlfriend Latanya, were inside E&S Carryout Shrimp Shack, located on McNichols Road near Schaefer Highway.  He has a valid concealed carry permit and was armed that night.

While they were inside the restaurant, an armed robber came inside to rob everybody and ordering everyone to hand over their cash.  Dennis, his girlfriend, and another customer began throwing their wallets and money on the floor. The suspect pointed his gun in Latanya’s face but was distracted by the wallets on the floor.  When he turned away to pick them up, Dennis pulled out his gun and shot him in the stomach.

Dennis said “When I saw he had the gun in her face, and I threw my wallet down and keys, he turned to look and get the money, that’s when I lit him up.”  He said that he “then kicked the robber’s gun away” and gave him first aid until paramedics arrived.  After the incident, he said that he did not have a plan to distract the armed robber but that he took advantage of the opportunity when it presented itself.  He said “Even though you give them everything, they’ll still shoot you, and I wasn’t going out like that.”

The Detroit Police Department has issued a statement that Dennis will not be charged in the incident because he acted “in self-defense.”

Thankfully, nobody but the suspect was injured because this man did what he had to do. All you need is your weapon and a comfortable holster, and you don’t have to worry about being a helpless victim.
