Arkansas Officer Murdered By Gunman

A Hot Springs Police Department officer was fatally shot Tuesday night.

Hot Springs, AR – A Hot Springs Police Department officer was fatally shot during a traffic stop Tuesday night.

The incident happened at around 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Kenwood Street, according to Texarkana Gazette.

Officer Brent Scrimshire initiated a traffic stop on the unidentified suspect, according to KARK. During the stop, the officer was fatally shot.

The suspect was also shot during the gunfight. The suspect’s condition has not been released at this time.

“I would ask that everybody have their thoughts and prayers for our officer at this time, and his family,” Hot Springs PD Cpl. Joey Williams told reporters, according to Texarkana Gazette.

Arkansas State Police are investigating the shooting.
