Active Shooter Reported At California High School With Multiple Victims Down

Authorities are saying that at least seven people were shot at Saugus High School on Thursday morning.

Santa Clarita, CA – At least six people were shot at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita on Thursday morning and the gunman is still at large.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials confirmed that their agency responded to 911 calls about a gunshot wound at the high school located at 21900 Centurion Way at about 7:40 a.m. on Nov. 14, KABC reported.

The conditions of the various victims were still unknown but one person was reportedly shot in the stomach and at least two students were in critical condition.

“This is an active shooter situation,” the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “If you live in neighborhoods anywhere near Saugus High, PLEASE LOCK DOORS and stay inside. If you see suspect, male dark clothing, in backyards, etc. CALL 911.”

Los Angeles County Fire Department Spokesman Christopher Thomas said it wasn’t initially clear if all of the wounded had been hit by gunfire or suffered other injuries in the melee that followed, KUSI reported.

At least one victim was airlifted to a trauma center via helicopter.

Henry Mayo Hospital said they had already received two victims who were in critical condition and were expecting three more patients arrivals momentarily, KTLA reported.

The sheriff’s department described the gunman, who was still at large, as an Asian male wearing all-black clothing, according to KTLA.

All of the schools inside the William S. Hart Union High School District have been placed on lockdown, according to KTLA.

“We have multiple victims down,” LA County Sheriff’s Sergeant Bob said. “Our deputies are doing a systematic search of the campus, trying to locate the suspect.”

News helicopter video showed many of the 2,300 students at Saugus High School being evacuated from the school with their hands in the air, KNBC reported.

Students were being bussed off campus to a nearby church for later reunification with their families as SWAT teams cleared classrooms one at a time.

Residents have been asked to avoid the area and to lock their doors and stay inside, KTLA reported.
