UPDATE: The suspect was captured at 11:30 p.m.
Levelland, TX – Four law enforcement officers were shot Thursday afternoon while dealing with a barricaded suspect, and one of the officers has succumbed to his injuries.
The incident started at around 1:12 p.m. in the 1100 block of 10th Street, according to KXAN.
Police responded to a “possibly armed” person, according to KXAN. No further details have been released about what led up to the incident.
Officers contacted the suspect, and the contact resulted in two Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot, one Hockley County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot, and one Levelland Police officer shot.
One of the Lubbock County deputies was killed, and two deputies are listed in critical condition.
The suspect is barricaded in a house and ongoing gunfire is being heard in the area according to the Associated Press.
