25-Year-Old Woman Pulls Foot-Long Alligator Out Of Yoga Pants On Traffic Stop

Punta Gorda, FL – A Florida sheriff’s deputy searching a suspect during a traffic stop on Monday found more than he was bargaining for in her yoga pants.

Charlotte County sheriff’s deputies were doing traffic enforcement at about 3:30 a.m. on May 6 when they encountered 22-year-old Michael Clemons and his passenger, 25-year-old Ariel Machan-Le Quire, the Miami Herald reported.

Deputies said Clemons was driving a blue pickup truck and failed to stop at a stop sign.

The deputy asked Clemons for his driver’s license, registration and insurance card, the Miami Herald reported.

Clemons told deputies that he and Machan-Le Quire had been trying to collect frogs and snakes from under an overpass before they were stopped.

A deputy searched the bags in the back of the pickup truck to make sure the two hadn’t taken any wildlife they weren’t supposed to remove, the Miami Herald reported.

The police report said Machan-Le Quire gave the deputy permission to search her backpack that was sitting on the floorboard of the truck.

“Ariel opened the backpack that was on the passenger’s floorboard that revealed 41 small turtles,” the deputy wrote incident report, according to the Miami Herald.

Next, the woman reached into her yoga pants and pulled out a one-foot alligator.

Deputies contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to investigate the deputies discoveries, the Miami Herald reported.

It wasn’t known if Clemons or Machan-Le Quire was charged with anything during the stop.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office shared the incident on its official Facebook page with a picture of the alligator.

In their post, they poked fun at the hashtag #FloridaMan which was created in 2013 to cover all the weird crime news stories that begin with the words a “Florida man.”

“Not to be outdone by the #FloridaMan, a #FloridaWoman pulled this alligator out of her pants Monday morning during a traffic stop after being asked the standard ‘Do you have anything else?’” the sheriff’s department posted, along with a photo of the reptile the woman pulled out of her pants.
