BREAKING: 2 Cops Shot During Independence Day Celebration In Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – Two police officers were shot during Independence Day festivities on Monday night.

The incident happened as a large crowd gathered to celebrate Independence Day with a concert and fireworks along the Ben Franklin Parkway when the shooting occurred near the 2500 block of Spring Garden Street at around 9:45 p.m, according to KYW-TV.

The two police officers were shot just as fireworks were starting.

A Montgomery County Bomb Squad officer was shot in the shoulder and a Philadelphia police officer assigned to highway patrol suffered a graze wound to the head, according to WTXF.

Both officers are in stable condition. It is not clear at this time if there are any other people wounded.

No information has been released about who the suspect is or what sparked the gunfire.

Authorities are searching the area for the shooter.

The gunshots caused a stampede of people to flee from the area.
