AndrewBlakeHaverhill, Mass. – A 15-year-old girl is accused of running a drug operation out of her bedroom window with the consent of her mother.
The girl was arrested after police said a stampede of foot traffic to the girl’s residence for drugs early in the morning hours caught the attention of neighbors, according to WFXT-TV.
People allegedly were able to buy drugs from the 15-year-old by going to the back stairs of the multi-family home and making the deal, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The teen’s mother, 37-year-old Heather Vittorioso, told police detectives “…she knew that [daughter] was selling weed but had no idea about anything else.”
Police said marijuana was found during a Jan. 5 search as well as cocaine, fentanyl, two unlicensed guns and ammunition in the third-floor apartment. Police also seized $1,069 in cash.
Most of the cash and a large assortment of drugs was found in the teenager’s bedroom dresser which was three feet from the bedroom window.
“(For it) to happen in your own building — I sleep in the back with my son,” said Tanya Silva, a woman who lives in the building, below where the teenager’s window was located. “To know they were coming up the back there and drugs were being bought it is kind of disturbing.”
Neighbors said they found it hard to believe that the mother didn’t realize what her daughter was doing. They said there was routinely a lot of foot traffic to the daughter’s bedroom at all hours of the day.
“People were going up and down the stairs (at) 2 and 3 a.m.,” said Brianna Rogers, a neighbor, according to the Atlanta Constitution-Journal.
The mother was also arraigned. Cameron Dawson, 18, was also charged. According to investigators, Dawson is the boyfriend of the teenage girl and had been living in her bedroom, WFXT reported.
Police say the teenage girl’s father was already in jail on assault and kidnapping charges in an unrelated case.
