A 14-year-old girl is facing charges after she punched a man dress up as Donald Trump in the jaw at a Halloween event

Orangetree, FL – A 14-year-old girl is facing a misdemeanor battery charge after she walked up to a man dressed as President Donald Trump as he stood in line at a fairgrounds and punched him.

The 14-year-old’s friends recorded the assault and posted it on Instagram, according to the Naples Daily News.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said the girl faces a misdemeanor battery charge for the incident that happened at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 26.

The man and his family were in line to go to the haunted house exhibit at the fairgrounds, according to the Naples Daily News. That’s when the girl walked over and punched the man in the jaw. According to the victim, the girl laughed after punching him and then ran back to her spot in line with about four other juveniles.

The man approached her and asked the 14-year-old why she would punch him. The man then found a county fair worker and asked for the police so he could report the incident, according to the Naples Daily News.

The sheriff deputy then interviewed the 14-year-old as well as her parents. While police were interviewing the parents, someone identified themselves as working for the Collier County School district and said the assault was posted on Instagram, according to the Naples Daily News.

The sheriff deputy told the family that due to the nature of the crime and “that the sole motivation was to strike Trump” that police may do a follow up interview, according to the Naples Daily News. The girl was then forced to leave the fairground, according to The Independent.

The Naples Haunted Gross House where the incident occurred is an annual event at the fairgrounds.

Media reports going back to 2015 have stated that Donald Trump costumes are among the most popular for Halloween.
