Portapique, Nova Scotia – At least 10 people were killed, including a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer over the course of 12 hours by a killer in Nova Scotia.
The incident started Saturday night on a property in Portapique when 51-year-old Grabriel Wortman opened fire on people, according to CNN.
At some point RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson was killed by the gunman, who then stole her patrol car to continue his rampage. The suspect later transferred to a silver SUV to continue his attack.
The suspect shot more people throughout a 12-hour rampage. Authorities are still unsure how many people were murdered during the attack.
The killings stopped after police say they took the suspect into custody. ABC3340 reports that the suspect is dead.
At least 10 victims are reported to have been killed in the attack according to RCMP
“In excess of 10 people have been killed,” RCMP Chief Superintendent Chris Leather announced. “We believe it to be one person who is responsible for all the killings and that he alone moved across the northern part of the province and committed what appears to be several homicides.”
No further details about the attack have been released by authorities.
